Stage 02: Dunkerque to Gent

This morning was pouring before the start. The weather forecast threatened to rain all afternoon. Fortunately even French weathermen don't often get it right! It turned out to be a great day through Flanders. Three guys, Ruben Perez, Cedric Herve and Marcel Sieberg were on a three man break before being caught by the peloton with less than 3k to go. Then around 2k to go there was a big crash which caught Cancellara in the yellow jersey, but he still made it to the finish in time to keep the jersey. Tom Boonen let teammate Gert Steegmans take the win in Gent. Prince Phillip of Belgium was on the podium to greet them.
