Dispatch 56 Part 1: Last Evening at Base Camp

By Dave Hahn - May 26th, 2006

Hello, GreatOutdoors.com, this is Dave and I'm at Base Camp for what might be my final evening. Exciting times here and everybody is in a pretty good mood. Dan and Jim came safely down to base camp today along with our ABC cooks who have been up there for a month, Mingmar and Lhakpa, and all our Sherpa condition came down today too with big loads on. They've got one more day of carries to get stuff down through the ice fall. So there's a possibility that everything will be done and everyone will be down safe by about 10 tomorrow morning. That's what we're hoping for, if that happens, I'll probably start walking out tomorrow morning with Mark Tucker and Ang Jangbu and Pemba our cook, and we'll start walking fast down the valley, and I'm really looking forward to that walk down to a place where things are growing, and a little bit closer to home. Things are going well here this morning Paul and Fiona and Paul's step mom Mary started walking out, as well as Dennis. We're hearing a lot of our expedition are not in Kathmandu or even further along in their way home and pretty soon the tail end of this expedition is going to get on the road too. I'll let you know how it goes. Bye now.
