Leg 4 - Running

By GreatOutdoors Staff - March 19th, 2008

Description

The runner leaves the exchange point and heads toward the scenic running trail along the Deschutes River. After completing the 10 km course, the runner makes contact with the canoe/kayak participant. There is a shorter run course of 5 km for the Under 12 Team category.

The 10 km course starts on Colorado Ave. and Columbia Ave. The runners proceed along the paved path to Century Drive, turn left at Mt. Bachelor Dr. and proceed on Mt. Bachelor Dr. to the South Entrance of Mount Bachelor Village Resort. At this point, the trail changes to a woodchip/cinder surface and parallels Century Drive and the Sunrise Village/Mountain Gate/Braeburn neighborhoods. The course then doubles back around at the entrance to the Braeburn neighborhood, goes through the Mountain Gate development, then goes down to the Deschutes River Trail below Mount Bachelor Village Resort to the Bill Healy Bridge and downriver to the Canoe/Kayak exchange area. The Run Finish is on the northwest side of the river across from the Farewell Bend Park. The 12 & Under Team category will run a shortened course (see course map). The course will be well marked with white arrows or signs.
