All Systems Go as Summit Bid Continues
This is Dave calling from advanced base camp on Mt. Everest and everything is going pretty well. Pretty dramatic change from this morning to now, this evening. this morning the jet stream was still on the mountain, just roaring like 747s up there, pretty stressful, and blowing around a little bit down here. It didn’t look terribly inviting this morning.
A number of people got up and got after it, and the Lhotse Face was full of climbers. And sure enough the winds did die down and by evening it seems fairly calm up above and that’s a good thing cause there’s a bunch of people at the South Col tonight hoping to go for the summit a little later this evening and tomorrow, and there’s a bunch of people on the Lhotse Face at Camp III. And we’re wishing them all well. In fact we need them to make progress, to get out of our way, we are still aiming at for Monday the 24th for our summit day, that means we go to Camp III tomorrow as a group, 8 of us, and then Camp IV the next day. The forecasts are still holding for that, it’s all systems go right now, its all looking good, keep our fingers crossed, keep climbing well the next couple of days.
