Via Satellite Phone - LISTEN IN!

Dave Hahn calling from Mount Everest, we're way up Mount Everest this time. We're at about 24,000 feet, Camp III on the Lhotse Face.  just one short little vertical mile from the summit of  Mount Everest.  Nicky Messner and I came up this morning, came up from Advance Base Camp.  Sanduk Dorje carried two bottles of oxygen up to the South Col today at 26,000 feet and then he went back down to Camp II, and he's looking out for us from down there. It's just Nicky and I up here tonight. There might be a few other folks at their various Camp IIIs on the mountain. When you climb up the Lhotse Face it's pretty good and steep and the Camp IIIs start about an hour and half before you reach the IMG Camp III. As usual we are the top camp. We like it that way, puts us a little closer to the high camp. But boy oh boy, it's a good work out getting up here. Through much of the day we had cloud cover and even light snow, it wasn't  a terribly cold day, we probably would have like it if it had been a little colder. But now we're sitting here at four in the afternoon, sun just beating down  on us, no wind, up above the clouds, and it's just beautiful, really really nice, and great to be here. I'm going to break this off and come back with part II of a dispatch.
