Sherpas Push Route to Yellow Band

Via Satellite Phone - LISTEN IN!

This is Dave Hahn at Everest Base Camp, about 17,500 feet. Another rest day for myself and Nicky and Greg. Just taking it easy down here at base camp, pretty quiet day. A few more of our climbers went up today, Ryan Campbell took his climbers up to Camp I, Casey Grom brought his climbers down, so there's only about five of us in base camp right now. Fairly quiet. Huge push up the mountain, lot of people going through the icefall this morning, everybody is kind of on the same schedule, except for us I guess. People were pushing up to take advantage to the end of the restrictions. Our  Sherpa teams were certainly taking advantage of that, the route, the fixing got done all the way past the Yellow Band, past 25,000 feet today, pretty amazing, they pushed all the way up to the Y as we call it, that's  the junction with  the route up Lhotse, the Lhotse Couloir and the junction with that route and the route to the South Col. So pretty astounding.  The hope and the expectation by now is that the Sherpas are going to push the route as far as the South Col tomorrow.  Our own Sherpa team established three tents at our Camp III at 24,000 feet today, and we're going to have our first climbers spend the night there tomorrow night, that's the plan.  The weather is good, weather seems fairly stable, no problems there  So we're just enjoying our rest,  taking it easy, and getting ready to go up in a couple of days. Bye now.
