Via Satellite Phone - LISTEN IN!

GreatOutdoors, this is Dave, and I'm at Everest Base Camp. Actually we got here April 7 and had our puja that same day, our ceremony to get permissions from the gods to be on the mountain. And things have gone pretty well, we're a little bit behind schedule for a variety of reasons this year, Camp II not quite established yet, Camp I is established, we had people stay there last night for the first of the trip, and then another batch of our climbers went out today. I actually went through the Icefall today to do a carry to Camp I and then came back down here to base camp, so I'm feeling pretty good, I had gone through a head cold where I stayed in my tent a couple days and tried to get over that. But Nicky and Greg Messner, my customers are doing pretty well, we went on an acclimatization hike yesterday, went over and climbed up Kala Pattar, and got some great views of Mount Everest. It's extremely dry here this year, very little if any winter snow on the mountain, kind of whish we had a season like this when we were searching for signs for George Mallory and Andrew Irvine over on the north side, but nope, we're on the south side right now, and the dry season means the Lhotse Face when I got a look at it today is all blue ice. There's not much snow out there when we were looking from Kala Pattar yesterday at the upper part of Everest. Very rocky, very rocky, all dark on the Southwest Face, beautiful day yesterday, a nice long walk. We had lunch down at Gorak Shep. We also with Nicky and Greg we've been part way through the icefall a couple of times for training. And so we'll be looking to heading up to Camp I in the next couple of days. I'll hope to let you know how that goes, so far so good here. Little bit of a strange season in the works but we're making do with it just fine. Bye for now.
