Almonds, Cheese and Home-made Bread

By 2175forALS.com - October 14th, 2008

Last week, Ben met a Vermont-native by the name of Jim, at the point where the Trail runs parallel to the road. No sooner had they begun talking and discussing the journey ahead, then Jim offered to bring Ben some breakfast. Already fed and carrying a few things to eat, Ben, though grateful, declined the offer; shortly thereafter, with Ben still on the move, Jim returned to drop off almonds, cheese and home-made bread. The re-telling of this story brought a smile to everyone's face, so we had to pass it on...thanks for the fuel, Jim.    That same day Ben accidentally did what he called a "Pete Rose" - a dive toward first base, (without the first base). So far spills have been kept at a minimum.   Yesterday, Ben set out to cover 40 miles, which would be the highest mileage he has fit into one day thus far. The last report came at mile 17 from Rick saying he was still plowing on...confirmation to come.  Cheers* Crew 2175
