Dispatch 51: Dave Hahn Leaves Base to Try for Ninth Everest Summit

Hey this is Dave Hahn at IMG Base Camp at Mount Everest, I've got my climbing harness on, it's about five in the morning, we're under a little cloud here, a blanket of low cloud but at this moment our climbers are just a few minutes from the summit of Mount Everest. I could here the radio transmission through the night Mark Tucker and Ang Janngbu were staying up and communicating the that first summit team all night long. I've already had my breakfast, Passang served me coffee and rice porridge and now my pack is packed and I'm going to start my summit run and if I'm lucky and strong in about 48 hours time or maybe just a little more than I should be getting close to the summit as well. But first the Khumbu Icefall, that's going to occupy me for the next couple of hours and I hope you hear from me at the top of it. Bye now.
