Hey GreatOutdoors, this is Dave Hahn and it's morning in Nepal, it's nine in the morning, and I'm sitting out here in a bout 2 inches of fresh snow, I'm sitting out here at our advance base camp at 21,300 feet . . . at the head of the Western Cwm . . . sipping coffee, the great expanse of Lhotse, I can see the tents . . . toward the South Col today. Looking over at the southwest face of Everest on my left, I can see a string of about 10 climbers, a Korean team, they are up on pretty steep terrain right now, they are headed for a sneaky couloir or gully that goes up to the West Ridge, pretty intriguing to note they are going up right now in an area that was pretty well swept by avalanches yesterday . . . Looking across the way over toward Nuptse in this big horseshoe that I'm in, I can even see footprints of folks poking around looking for a way onto the lower slopes of Nuptse, I thank that's Jim Williams' team, I haven't spoke to those guys yet but it was pointed out to me. Beautiful day in the Himalaya. I'm taking it easy, going to do a bunch of drinking--that's water . . . .alright, talk to you a little bit later today if anything goes on.
